General Terms and Conditions

Refunds

  • Bookings are non-refundable if cancelled within 48 hours of entry, or if the visitor no shows.
  • Experience Passes are fully refundable if cancelled more than 48 hours before entry, or for some reason the grounds do not open.
  • Hāngī and Concert bookings are fully refundable if cancelled more than 72 hours before entry, or for some reason the grounds do not open.

Cancellation

  • Waitangi Limited reserves the right to change components or close some or all of the grounds in the interests of guest safety or comfort.
  • Some products are subject to minimum numbers and may be cancelled and a full refund given if minimum numbers are not reached.

Pricing

  • Prices are subject to change without notice.
  •  All prices stated are in NZD and include 15% Goods and Services Tax.
  • Adult fares apply to all visitors 18 years and over.
  •  Youth fares apply to all visitors 13-17 years inclusive.
  • Child fares apply to all visitors 12 years and under.

Payment

  • Full payment must be made at the time of booking.
  • For any bookings made on a credit account, accounts are payable by the 20th of the Month following the date of invoice. Waitangi Limited reserve the right to charge interest at 2.5% per month and to charge a late payment penalty of 10% on any overdue accounts. If the account is not paid within 30 days after the due date, you will be liable for all debt collection costs incurred in the recovery of the unpaid account including legal fees and other costs incurred.
  • The customer agrees to indemnify Waitangi Limited against all costs, whether commission, legal fee or otherwise, incurred by Waitangi Limited or their duly authorised agents relating to the recovery of any unpaid account that may be outstanding for time to time pursuant to the terms of agreement.

Disclaimer

  • To the extent permitted by law, we hold no liability for disruption to your travel plans. We recommend our guests hold a comprehensive travel insurance policy in case of any unexpected changes in their travel plans that may incur a cancellation fee.
  • To the extent permitted by law, Waitangi Limited hold no liability for damage to you or your property. This is subject to any rights or remedies you may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
  • For the comfort of visitors, and in accordance with New Zealand Government legislation, we do not allow smoking or vaping anywhere on the grounds.
  • We observe Host Responsibility in all our venues and reserve the right to refuse entry or service to any visitor who appears intoxicated. BYO alcohol is not permitted on the Grounds at any time.
  • Where food and beverage is included, we take no responsibility for dietary requirements or food allergies not advised prior to service.

Conference and Events Terms and Conditions

Quotation

  •  Venue hire rates are included in the brochure as a guide only. Final event pricing will depend on location, group size and specific requirements.    
  • One of our events team will prepare a full written quotation for your event as part of the enquiry/booking process.
  • All prices quoted are in NZD and are exclusive of GST.

Booking Confirmation

  • To confirm a booking, please complete an application form and send it back to Waitangi Limited - events@waitangi.org.nz who will prepare an invoice for 25% deposit of your event quote.
  • Your booking will be deemed confirmed upon payment of this invoice.

Payment Terms

  • The remaining balance will be due 7 days prior to your event date.
  • Any additional costs will be invoiced following the function/event date or can be paid on the day with a credit card.

  • All invoices issued will be made payable to Waitangi Limited.  
  • Payment may be made online via direct credit, using the booking ID as a reference, or by credit card.
  • Please note that payment by credit card will incur a 2.5% fee.

Cancellation Policy

  • Events cancelled 30+ days in advance of the booking will receive a full refund.
  • Events cancelled between 8 and 30 days prior to the event will be charged a cancellation fee of 25% of the value of the booking.
  • Events cancelled within 7 days of the event, Waitangi Limited reserve the right to charge in full for the booking.
  • Cancellations due to inclement weather - Waitangi Limited will make every effort to accommodate the event in an alternative venue, however if this is not possible and the event is cancelled by Waitangi, Waitangi reserve the right to charge the client any irretrievable costs incurred for the event.

Covid 19 / Pandemic Policy

  • Waitangi Treaty Grounds will follow the government guidelines in the case of a pandemic response.
  • If, due to pandemic response, the event cannot proceed as originally planned, clients have the right to postpone their event to another date within 12 months from the original date of the booking.    
  • If the event is postponed to a date within six months of the original date, the original quoted price is applicable.
  • If the event is moved to a date between 6-12 months from the original date, increased costs may apply.

Confirmation of Menus and Final Numbers

  • Confirmation of menus and final guest numbers is required 7 days prior to the event. This number will constitute the minimum number charged for.

General Terms and Conditions

  • All protocols, rules, bylaws and policies (including Health and Safety procedures) of Waitangi Limited must be strictly adhered to, and all reasonable instructions and/or requests made by Waitangi Limited management and staff must be complied with.  
  • The rights and enjoyment of other visitors to the museum and grounds must be acknowledged and respected at all times.                       
  • Waitangi Treaty Grounds is smokefree, this policy covers all visitors within the grounds. If a smoking area is requested, security will be required to facilitate a smoking area outside of the grounds, there will be an additional cost for this service.      
  • Any additional security requirements identified by either party, will result in additional charges unless mutually agreed with Waitangi Limited. Details of additional security and costs, not invoiced with the main booking, will be included in a post event invoice.
  • The building / area / equipment hired shall be left in the original condition, subject only to fair wear and tear, at the conclusion of the event. Any costs incurred by Waitangi Limited to restore the equipment or facilities to original condition will be charged to the customer.          
  • The brochure is valid for the period 01 July 2024 - 30 June2025.
